Responsible Gambling
A live table has one property that makes limits matter more here than anywhere else in a casino: the pace is not yours. A slot waits for your click; a table does not. Good intentions are therefore not enough at a table — what is needed is a number decided before you sit down. This page is written by a review site, not by an operator: we cannot set a limit on your account, and everything below describes where the controls live rather than promising what any particular casino will do for you.
Define your limits before you log in
Decide how much money and how much time you can afford to lose before the first round, not during the tenth. Write the figure down if that helps. The one rule that carries the most weight is the dullest: never adjust a limit in the middle of a session in order to keep playing. A limit changed under pressure was never a limit.
Count rounds, not minutes
The clock is a poor budget at a live table because you cannot feel it passing. A round is countable. Decide in advance how many rounds you will play, divide your budget by that number, and the result is your stake — calculated rather than chosen by mood. This also gives you a clean exit signal: when the quota is used up, the session is over regardless of how the last round went.
Red flags worth taking seriously
- Depositing money that was meant for something else.
- Borrowing in order to play, in any form, including a credit card balance you cannot clear.
- Playing longer than planned more than once.
- Hiding the extent of your play from people close to you.
- Thinking about the table during the hours you are not playing.
One "yes" is a reason to set a limit. Several are a reason to stop and talk to somebody who works with this.
What the account tools actually do
A licensed operator normally keeps the same family of controls in the account settings, and they are worth switching on before they feel necessary. A deposit limit caps the money entering the account over a day, a week or a month — it disciplines the funding. A loss limit counts net losses instead, so winnings that get played again do not quietly stretch the budget. A session limit ends play after an agreed number of minutes. A reality check interrupts nothing: it simply shows elapsed time and current balance and hands the decision back to you. A cooling-off period suspends the account for a short fixed stretch, and self-exclusion closes it for months or years.
One asymmetry is deliberate everywhere: lowering a limit takes effect immediately, while raising one is held back for a waiting period. Nobody should have to wait in order to spend less. The mechanics of each control are written out on Self-Exclusion and Account Limits.
A separate note on fast tables
Accelerated tables — the ones where the pause between rounds has been cut out, or where the spin starts from your own button press — need their own limit. The reason is arithmetic rather than moral: the house edge applies to the amount staked, not to the time spent, and a fast table pushes the same amount of money through in a fraction of the time. Play a fast table at the stake you use at a calm one and your hourly cost multiplies, without the table being any less fair. Either the stake comes down or the round quota gets shorter; there is no third option.
Four honest questions
Have you ever deposited money that was meant for something else? Have you played longer than you planned, more than once? Have you hidden your play from the people around you? Do you think about the table when you are not playing? These four questions are not a diagnosis and no website can give you one. They are a prompt to act while acting is still easy.
Free help that is not tied to any operator
None of the services below are connected to a casino and none of them are selling anything. Contact details change, so the current ones are always on each organisation's own website rather than reproduced here.
| Service | What it offers |
|---|---|
| Gambling Therapy (gamblingtherapy.org) | Free international online support run by the UK charity Gordon Moody — advisers, moderated forums and group sessions, answered in several languages and tied to no single country |
| Gamblers Anonymous | A fellowship of people recovering from gambling problems; meetings run in person and online across most of Europe |
| Online Gaming Authority of India (MeitY) | Under s.8 of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025, this authority oversees only e-sports and social or educational games. It does not license casinos or any other online money games. No licence for real-money online gaming exists or can be obtained in India, and online money games have been prohibited there since 1 May 2026 |
| Peaasi.ee | Estonian mental-health portal offering online counselling, including in English. Readers in India can call Tele MANAS (MoHFW), the free national tele-mental-health helpline, on 14416 / 1800-891-4416. It is open 24/7 in 20+ languages, though it is not gambling-specific |
| Your own GP or national health service | The first step towards state-funded treatment and counselling in most European countries |
| BetBlocker | Free blocking software for a phone, computer or home network |
If you are in India and gambling no longer feels like a choice, a phone call is a good first step. Tele MANAS (14416 / 1800-891-4416) is free, runs 24/7 and works in more than 20 languages. It is a general mental-health helpline rather than a gambling-specific one. Since 1 May 2026 all online money games have been prohibited in India. Blocking software and a bank-level block on gambling transactions are practical steps that do not depend on any operator. Readers elsewhere should check whether their own country runs a national self-exclusion register. Many do, and the operator's terms will say which one applies.
After a big win
A large win is a more dangerous moment than a large loss, because it feels like confirmation. The practical advice is simple and unwelcome: withdraw and end the session. Not because the table is about to "turn" — it is not, every round is independent — but because stakes almost always rise after a win, and a raised stake meets exactly the same house edge.
Under 18: the door is closed
The legal threshold is 18 across most of Europe and 21 in a few markets, and it is not a suggestion. In India, online money games have been prohibited at any age since 1 May 2026. An account whose holder turns out to be underage is closed at document check and no payout is made. If children use your device, a content filter and a refusal to save the login are worth more than good intentions.
Age verification, licence and restricted countries
Every licensed operator is obliged to establish a customer's age and to keep a list of countries from which it will not accept players. Both sit in the operator's terms and conditions and are worth reading before registering rather than after. Whether a particular provider holds a licence for your market is settled only by the regulator's public register — not by an advertisement, and not by a review, including this one. The licence number and the name of the regulator belong in the footer of the operator's own site; if they are absent there, that absence is itself the finding.
Registering through a workaround from a restricted country normally voids winnings under those same terms, and payouts stay locked until the age check is complete. Preventing underage play is a condition of every licence, which is why these checks cannot be skipped or negotiated with support.
Where to start when there are several tools
Start with the deposit limit. It is the simplest, the most effective and the hardest to work around, because it belongs to the account rather than to one card or wallet. The loss limit is the natural second step and it pairs well with a round quota. A session limit suits people who lose track of time rather than of money. The reality check costs nothing in flexibility and makes a playing pattern visible, which is often the whole point.
A cooling-off period and self-exclusion are the heavier instruments and they are meant for the situation where limits have stopped working. Neither can be lifted early on request, however reasonable the request sounds, and support staff have no authority to override them. That is not obstruction; it is the entire mechanism. All four are described in detail on Self-Exclusion and Account Limits.
